Hi, I’m Abby.
I believe therapy is a collaborative space where you can feel understood while also gaining a deeper understanding of yourself. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where you can be unapologetically yourself and talk openly about what you're experiencing.
I have experience working with individuals and couples from a diverse range of ages, cultures, backgrounds, and identities. I have supported people through challenging life experiences, such as anxiety, OCD, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, relationship difficulties, grief, and trauma. I especially enjoy helping people make sense of what they're experiencing and explore how their past may be connected to what they're going through today. I believe that understanding yourself more deeply can create space for meaningful change and help you feel more confident as you navigate life's challenges.
I often think of therapy like a flower. You are the seed, and you already carry the potential to grow into something beautiful. But even the healthiest of seeds need the right environment, along with consistent care and support, to grow. My hope is that therapy can provide that environment and support, creating a space where you feel comfortable showing up as you are while also feeling supported as you grow. You don't have to navigate that process alone.
Outside of therapy, Abby enjoys spending time with my pets, traveling, listening to Taylor Swift, and nurturing a wide variety of plants, flowers, and vegetables. Abby values the parallels between personal growth and nature - both requiring patience, care, and the right environment to flourish.
My Approach
I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is feeling comfortable enough to be yourself. Therapy doesn't have to feel overly clinical or like you have to say the "right" things. I want our sessions to feel like a space where you can be honest about what you're experiencing, whether you're feeling overwhelmed or simply unsure of where to begin. I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and compassion, while meeting you where you're at. You know yourself and your experiences better than anyone, and my role is to help you better understand those experiences while supporting you along the way.
no growth in comfort
While therapy should feel safe and supportive, I also believe that growth sometimes requires us to look at things from a different perspective. When appropriate, I am comfortable being direct, asking difficult questions, and gently challenging thoughts and patterns that may be holding you back. I want these moments to come from a place of compassion, trust, and understanding, with the ultimate goal of you gaining insight and moving toward the changes you want while still honoring where you're at in your process.
you’re the boss
My approach is integrative, person-centered, and trauma informed. During our time together, I will draw from different therapeutic approaches based on what feels most helpful for you. To better understand what is happening in the present, we will explore the connection between your past experiences, relationships, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I also incorporate emotional regulation strategies and practical coping skills when they are helpful. Whether you need space to process overwhelming emotions or help making sense of a difficult situation, we can work together to find an approach that best fits you.
